Biomechanical Analysis
Dynamic Health Services is proud to introduce Dartfish, the amazing computerized biomechanical analysis program that helps athletes of all ages with injury prevention and improved performance. Olympic athletes use Dartfish. Professional athletes use Dartfish. And now, thanks to Dynamic Health Services, you can use Dartfish. You may not believe your eyes when you see what Dartfish can do, but you will believe the results. At Dynamic Health Services we use Dartfish to analyze all types of movements such as a gait analysis for runners. We then create a DVD to point out any biomechanical flaws to help you work on proper form even when your physical therapist can’t be with you. Nobody else can offer Dynamic Health Services unique combination of Dartfish expertise and collaborative therapeutic practices that bring out the best in you. From biking to weight lifting to gait analysis for runners and walkers, Dynamic Health Services can show you how to improve your game, how to avoid injury and how to get more enjoyment from the activities you love. Learn more at Dartfish.com.

Why a running gait analysis?
Running accounts for over 1.5 million injuries annually, according to the American Sports Data. Through the course of their running careers, 50 to 70% of runners are likely to sustain at least one running related injury. Due to the repetitive nature of the sport, and the compressive loads sustained through the joints, (greater than 2-3x body weight) overuse injuries, affecting the hip, knee, ankle and foot, are the most common. Achieving a fluid and mechanically sound running cycle is critical to injury prevention. Establishing a good muscular balance in the lower legs improves efficiency and lengthens your running career.
If you are a runner, you've likely sought out the right shoes and the right socks; you're following a training plan; you've got all the right gear; you're probably carb-loading before long runs and generally minding the fuel you're putting in your body. Gait analysis costs about the same as a good pair of running shoes, but the benefits will likely long outlast all the gear, gels, Advil and ACE bandages you'll ever purchase. Identifying weaknesses and biomechanical flaws and incorporating corrective training will save you from the bigger bills and heartache an injury can cause. It stands to reason that with improved mechanics, you’ll get a lot more mileage out of your body than with bad mechanics and a good pair of shoes and other running gear!
A gait analysis includes:
- History of previous and current injuries
- History of previous and current activity levels
- Assessment of current footwear and orthotics
- Strength assessment
- Flexibility assessment
- Posture assessment
- Videotape of gait from various angles and analysis frame by frame to determine any deviations causing increased risk of injury.
Following the completion of the above items, guidance will be provided on an individualized basis towards the proper footwear and recommended exercises to prevent further injuries.
